Talk to me about research papers and your battle plan to conquer our last assignment. What concerns do you have about it? What do / don't you like about research? What can I do, other than cancel the assignment, to help alleviate some of the stress associated with writing a research paper?

Our research paper seems to be coming along at a fairly decent pace. The Wednesday class in the library helped a lot with finding sources and the history of out book. One thing that might be helpful for the paper is to have another day where our groups can get together and work a little bit in class again, that seems to be the best way to get the ball rolling.

I know its a little late, but this blog seemed to catch my attention, so I thought I'd do it anyway. If I could ban anything, I would ban time. I would make it so that, there is always something to do at anytime of the day. Of course you would still have work and shit, but then you also have graveyard shifts, where places would continue to stay open for those who are night owls. I think that would be great.

Take a look at the list, read one of the stories (they are all linked on the website), and post your response to it. Why do you think the story you chose was largely ignored by the mainstream media?

The story I chose to read was Truth Emergency US, and after reading it, it is obvious to see why an article like that was ignored by the mainstream media. The article basically bashes how the media portrays the news and how they only show news topics that are shocking to the public, but have no real impact on what is going on in the US. The article made a good point of this and stated that there are better journalists getting together to bring the real news to peoples homes. I think that this will be a better way of opening the publics eyes to what is actually happening to our economy, and they will be able to see the sheet that is being pulled over them by the government and mainstream media.

Assignment #7

Heroes who were considered disobedient and the impact that they have had on the world as a result of that disobedience.

The one heroe that stuck out in my mind would have to be Martin Luther King Jr.. His radical thinking about de-segregation has had a major impact on society, and still lives in everyone today. If it were not for his famous "I have a dream" speech, there would have been a longer period of segregation and racism in this world. Rosa Parks also contributed to his thinking and helped paved the way for African Americans and the rest of the American society. She has made a great contribution to society for sticking to her guns and not seeing the world in black and white, but as a world of diverse human beings. The revolution that these two heroes started with their disobedience has changed the world, and for that I respect them a great deal.

Assignment #6

Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart said that "“Censorship reflects a society's lack of confidence in itself. It is a hallmark of an authoritarian regime.” Do you agree or disagree with his opinion? Why?

I disagree with Mr. Potter. Censorship to me, reflects the control and power over the masses, and it is fear rather than lack of confidence. The fear of society being knowledgeable of what is true and what is not true, and those who are in control of censoring are afraid that the truth can be exposed at any time, by anyone. I do agree that it is a form of an authoritarian regime, by having the final say of what can be put out go through a head figure or figures. That to me just does not seem sound.

Assignment #5

The litigants in the Mozert case argued that the textbooks their children used were not "balanced" when it came to the presentation of controversial topics. What specific complaints did they have about the Holt reader? Were their concerns reasonable for textbooks used in a public school? Why or why not?

The Holt books emphasized tolerance for diversity, and the protesters said they wanted their children to obey without question. Instead, the new readers promoted creative thinking and independent decision making. Their concerns were reasonable for the textbooks used in public schools, because they were not teaching their religion, Christianity. The public schools were said to be violating the First Amendment with the promotion of one religion, at the expense of another.

My Valentine's Day sucked.

Instead of having a Valentine, I got in a fight with some stranger. I was driving down the street right across from Disneyland, and some girl and her boyfriend thought me and my friends were following them. This is a one way street mind you, and we were on our way home from the beach. This guy got out of his girlfriend's car, and he's about 6'3, 250 lbs, and in the middle of the intersection, he hits my window with his fist, but he didn't break it. My friend who was sitting shotgun, got out to handle the situation, and they go at it, in the middle of the street. My other friend jumps out to get his back, and he jumps on the guys back to choke him off my other friend. The light turns green, the traffic moves, and they all move to a parking lot off the street. I pull in, park my car, and now its three on one. This guy was scared at this moment. My two friends go at it again with him. I go up to him, after telling some by standers to call the police, which they don't come until twenty minutes later, and start ripping this guy a new asshole for destroying private property, and assulting my friend. He tries to get away, and me and my friend take him down. He got in his car, and my friend, whose face was cut up a little bit and bloody, starts bashing in his face for a good 30 seconds. The police are still not here, and my other friend had to pull him off, because I wasn't going to stop the ass whooping the guy deserved. His girlfriend said we scared her with our rapping in the car, and so I said that gives you justification to start hitting someone? She then calls my friend a "queer" for no reason, and I asked her, what makes him a queer all of a sudden? She said because he scared her. WTF?!? These two people were just a couple of racist bigots. My friends stick around to file a police report with the cops who take forever to show up, and I leave to go home and eat dinner. What a happy Valentine's Day huh?

Assignment #3

The image portrays exactly the meaning of tyranny of the majority with the phrase,"If everyone was jumping off a cliff, would you do it too?" In other words, just because everyone else is doing it, doesn't mean that you should. Take my brother's girlfriend for example, she sees the celebrities eating Pinkberry yogurt, and now she has to have that crap. When really it is just some over priced yogurt that you can get at any supermarket. It's all part of the whole materialistic lifestyle that people live, with their gucci this and coach that. It makes me sick.

Assignment #2

The truth will get distorted and certain facts will be censored in order to restore the faith for the church. Milton sees this as a dangerous practice because then we would not have the foundations of our beliefs, if parts of the truth were omitted. I do agree with what Milton is saying. We should have to right to know all the facts, and then it will be up to us whether we want to believe it as true or not.

I'm pretty much always upbeat, and looking at the lighter side of things. My worst would be stubbourness, because I hate to be ordered around.

An email to my brother in Las Vegas.

My Ipod, the Magic Bullet Blender, a hooded sweater, a pair of vans, and fireworks.

(8) When in a group, do you lead or follow?
I tend to lead, but i would prefer to follow because I hate making decisions all the time.

Take it to Las Vegas and put it all on black!
